4 One Minute Movements

I’ve been there, we’ve all been there, when we just can’t find the time for movement. Yet, when the body moves in a challenging way we feel good, we feel energised.

You have a minute?

1 – Drop down and give us 20

Push-ups are a quick, efficient way to target the chest, back and arms. See how many you can push out in 60secs. Lead with your chest rather than your hips or your neck. You’re working quickly, so get the most out of your 60secs with good form: avoid tilting your head up and keep your neck aligned with your spine.

2 – Sit against a wall

With your back flush to the wall, sit until your thighs are parallel to the ground, and stay there for 60secs. The shaking is good, breathe through it. Watch your form. Press through your heels and squeeze your ass, so you don’t let your knees cave in.

3 – How’s your bench?

Find yourself a bench and get ready for a box jump with a twist. Rather than jump forward onto the bench, try the lateral version: line up with your right side near the bench, then jump up and onto it. Land softly, then jump off it on the other side. Repeat for 60secs. If the bench has a back, do this facing one way for 30secs, then face the other way for 30secs.

4 – Take a run in the sand

Running on sand can expend 1.6 times as much energy as on a hard surface. Just means we burn more when we run on the sand and it feels a lot better than a hard surface like a road or trail. So the next time you’re on a beach holiday, take off your trainers and set them about 20 metres apart. Run from one trainer to the next for a 60secs, see how many runs you can finish before your time is up.

These can all be done in a minute, doesn’t need any equipment and you will feel good when you are done.
