Figured Out! What does that even mean? Just over 4 decades old and we’re not even close to figuring it out.
Somehow there’s always been a plan though, I mean how can I/we be where we are and not have figured out some things along the way.
Example – I worked in the bank, my first real job, which I refer to as my ‘big boy job’. A job a hated, ok maybe not hated but disliked as it wasn’t the direction I wanted my life to go but I still did it. But I made some enquiries, did some research and chose another path – which was going to work at sea as a Navigating Officer.
Before that journey start though, I was asked why I wanted to do it. I wanted the money but instead I answered “I want to travel and see the world”, the reply I received was not expected “You are going to see the world from a bridge of a ship, go home and think about that”. Which I did and came back and asked if I can put my studies on hold and I went travelling around the world for a few years.
Even getting married and having kids had a simple plan. We moved in together to get to know each other better. Lived together for a year, then we got engaged for a year before getting married. We enjoyed married life for 1 full year before we decided to have kids. When Asher was born we knew we were at the right moment in life, where we were supposed to be.
But life doesn’t always go in a straight line from A to B and we fell pregnant with Seth, totally unplanned, and we had 2 kids 1yr and 4mnths apart. This situation we figure out and rolled with it.
So even though we don’t feel like we have it figure out, our life we currently live is quite figured out.
We got to where we are with good planning, sometimes no planning.
Sure you can relate, leave a comment of how you managed to figure it out – this journey called Life.
