Upgrade the basics
Boost your omega-3s with canned tuna. Use mayonnaise made with olive oil for a richer flavour and brighten it with squeeze of lemon.
Mix in add-ons
Finely diced celery and red onion give flavour, texture and crunch, a few capers add a salty kick and cracked pepper adds bite, not forgetting the tomatoes and lettuce.
Use decent bread
Skip the sliced white bread. Choose whole wheat or ciabatta bread, which will give you a better texture. And always toast your bread – it creates a barrier that keeps sogginess in check.
